NBA Legend Scottie Pippen's Son Antron Dead At 33 — See The Athlete's Touching Tribute
RIP. NBA Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen announced on Monday, April 19, that his oldest son, Antron Pippen, has sadly passed away at age 33.
“I’m heartbroken to share that yesterday, I said goodbye to my firstborn son Antron,” he wrote via Instagram, sharing a slideshow of himself and his beloved child. “The two of us shared a love for basketball and we had countless conversations about the game.”
Antron’s cause of death has yet to be revealed, but his father did tell his fans he had suffered from “chronic asthma” throughout his life. “If he hadn’t had [asthma], I truly believe he would've made it to the NBA,” he wrote, referring to Antron playing college ball for both South Georgia Technical College and Texas A&M International. “He never let that get him down, though — Antron stayed positive and worked hard, and I am so proud of the man that he became.”
The former Chicago Bulls player asked his fans to keep Antron’s mom, Karen McCollum, “and all of his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers. A kind heart and beautiful soul gone way too soon. I love you, son, rest easy until we meet again. 🙏🏾.”

Antron was born on December 29, 1987, and he was the eldest of Scottie’s eight children — and the only child he shared with McCollum (the former flames were married from 1998-1990). The retired athlete also shares daughter Taylor with former girlfriend Sonya Roby, daughter Sierra with ex Yvette Deleone, and sons Scotty Jr., Preston and Justin as well as daughter Sophia with estranged wife Larsa Pippen (the two called it quits in 2018 after 20 years together).
“Some truths in life are hard to accept. Your memories will never be forgotten!” Antron’s stepmom Pippen wrote via Instagram Story. “They will always remain with us forever. You are forever in our hearts, we love u and will miss u always. RIP Antron.”
News of Antron’s heartbreaking passing comes shortly after his 20-year-old brother Scotty Jr. announced he would be declaring for the 2021 NBA Draft.
