Scottie shared the tragic news the following day on Instagram alongside an array of photos of the two together.

While he did not confirm Antron's cause of death, the NBA Hall of Famer revealed that Antron suffered "chronic asthma" throughout his life.

According to the former Chicago Bulls player, Antron was a gifted basketball player and most likely "would've made it to the NBA" if not for his asthma.

Scottie shared Antron with his ex-wife, Karen McCollum, and asked his social media followers to keep Antron's mom in their "thoughts and prayers" during this time. Antron was the only child Scottie had with his first wife, whom he was married to from 1988-1990.

According to Antron's Facebook page, Scottie's late son attended Collins Hill High School in Suwanee, Ga.

Antron — who was born on December 29, 1987, and was the eldest of Scottie’s eight children — played basketball for Texas A&M International and South Georgia Technical College (SGTC). In 2013, he signed with the Upstate Heat team of the World Basketball Association, Amo Mama reported.

SGTC paid tribute to their former player after the heartbreaking news made headlines. "The Jets family was saddened to learn of the death of one of our former players, Antron Pippen," their statement read. "His family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers. Antron was a Jet during the 2006-2007 season. #Jetfamily #SGTCJets."

While keeping a low profile on social media, Antron spent his time playing basketball for a local team in Atlanta, Marie Claire reported in January, where he also worked as a machine technician at Alcon Laboratories.

Antron managed to keep his life out of the public eye, only sharing a few old photos to Facebook of himself playing basketball and spending time with his mom.

While it is unclear what kind of relationship Antron had with Scottie's second wife, Larsa Pippen, whom Scottie is estranged from, Larsa took to Instagram to pay tribute to the late athlete. The former flames — who ended their 20 year relationship in 2018 — share sons Scotty Jr., Preston and Justin as well as daughter Sophia.

Antron also had half-sisters, Taylor (whose twin died nine days after birth) and Sierra, both 26 and from different ex-girlfriends of Scottie's.
