Lucy Davis is opening up about the deeply personal battle she has been fighting away from the spotlight.
The Office actress, who became a beloved household name for playing receptionist Dawn Tinsley in the original British version of the hit comedy, revealed that she has been quietly living with Stage 4 b----- cancer for the past year and a half.
In a candid Instagram post, the 53-year-old shared that the disease has spread to her bones, including her spine, right hip and ribs, and is now "incurable."

Lucy Davis revealed that the first warning sign had been a tiny hard spot she almost ignored.
Davis admitted that the first warning sign was so subtle she nearly ignored it.
"The initial lump that I felt, wasn’t a ‘lump’ as such; rather a kind of hard spot. Really tiny,” she wrote.
“I almost didn’t bother getting it checked. So I guess I’m saying don’t ignore anything – get everything checked out," she continued.
While the diagnosis is devastating, the British star said she is determined not to spend whatever time she has left consumed by fear.
"As of now, I’m trying to live out whatever might be left of my life in as fun a way as I possibly can. I always like to find the teachable moments in anything negative that happens. And cancer has not disappointed in that regard; there’s a lot I have learned from it, and I’m grateful for that," she explained.

Lucy Davis opened up about the severe pain that had made standing and walking difficult.
Davis admitted that the physical toll has been immense.
“As some of you will know, the pain can really be something else. Standing and walking for too long a time can be hard, and I need to use a wheelchair sometimes (so if you see me toddling around in one, feel free to give me a push!)," she wrote.
Perhaps the most moving part of her message was the peace she says she has found despite the uncertainty ahead.
“I’m not scared of whatever comes next. I’m at peace with it. I’ll see my Gracie sooner than expected, and for me, leaving my physical body just means going home. Any and all grieving is for my family; it’s far harder for them than for me," she added.
Lucy Davis Vows to Continue Her Animal Rights Work Despite Her Diagnosis
Lucy Davis offered a heartfelt message to others who had been facing their own cancer journeys.
The TV favorite, who has also appeared in Shaun of the Dead, Wonder Woman and Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, said she has no intention of stepping away from the things that give her life meaning.
"I’m still going to keep up all my work for animal rights. It’s so important to me. And I still would like to keep working. I’m perfectly able to do so, and acting is one of the biggest joys in my life," she added.
"For those of you on a similar journey to mine, I do wish you well. Cancer asks a lot from us, physically and mentally. And we all get to do it however we choose. Much love to you all🩷🎀," she concluded.
