Star Trek icon William Shatner shut down ridiculous rumors that he is feuding with MAGA influencer Erika Kirk.
The rumors of a conflict between the unlikely two are fake news generated by AI claiming he was in a "fight" with Erika, the widow of slain conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
The 95-year-old Shatner explicitly called out a Facebook page on April Fools' Day for using AI to create fabricated stories about him to generate ad revenue.

William Shatner is not fighting with Erika Kirk.
“I wanted to put this out yesterday, but given the day and the possibility that it would look like a joke, I waited for today. There is a page on @facebook that is using AI to create horrible fake news stories about me,” he wrote.
The same fraudulent page also falsely claimed the actor had stage four brain cancer and was dying.
“They have created stories that say I have stage 4 brain cancer, was in some fight with Erika Kirk, and that I’m dying. All their stories are monetized. Most of the stories use an AI image of me. Facebook Support will not remove the page,” he explained.

Erika Kirk's husband, Charlie, died in 2025.
The actor reassured fans that he is "fit as a fiddle" and denounced the stories as "yellow journalism" and a "downside of AI.”
“Daughter came over to tell me her daughter heard that I had brain cancer. She took this photo and sent it to me to upload to prove I’m not ill,” Shatner captioned an Instagram post. “The people who are ill are those who are spreading these ridiculous stories. I’m fit as a fiddle. You don’t have to worry. This is getting insane.”

William Shatner said the rumors are 'insane.'
No stranger to health rumors in the past, William noted that Facebook refused to take the page down and that he even contacted the page's owner, the CEO, to request that it be taken down.
“None of these stories are true, but they apparently seem genuine enough for fans to repost them across social media and send messages of support to me and my family all while the culprits behind the account make money,” he wrote of the page he identified as The Beanstalk Functions Group.

Erika Kirk is in a feud with Candace Owens.
William, the oldest person to ever cross the Kármán line when he traveled to space aboard a Blue Origin NS flight at the age of 90 in 2021, didn’t completely blast AI, however, and noted that while it’s not the final frontier, it can be a useful tool if used properly.
“While [it] can be a wonderful tool in the right hands, it can be used as a weapon in the wrong hands,” he wrote. “If you see a bizarre story about me, unless you see it posted on one of my verified accounts, take it with a grain of salt.”
Erika, meanwhile, is currently involved in a high-profile real-life feud with far-right influencer Candace Owens regarding the circumstances of her husband’s death.
