Watch: Amber Portwood’s Ex Gary Shirley Marries Baby Mama In Secret Ceremony
Amber Portwood is finally getting her second chance to be a present mother in her daughter’s life. After years of only having visitation of her six-year-old daughter Leah, the Teen Mom OG star finally won her custody battle over her ex-fiancé Gary Shirley.
The 25-year-old now has 50/50 custody of her daughter, a source told RadarOnline. “Amber and Gary finally worked everything out with their lawyers two weeks ago,” the insider said. “They’re both happy.”
Full custody was granted to Gary Shirley in 2012 when Amber agreed to a five-year jail sentence after multiple rehab stints failed to help her combat her addition to prescription pills. She was released from prison in November 2013.
Amber’s custody battle with her ex is a main storyline on TMOG this season. “I shouldn’t have to go through a custody battle for my kid,” Amber cried in a trailer for the show.
The custody win was a long time coming for Amber, who has been fighting for her daughter since her prison release. From being sober for three years to having a stable home with her fiancé Matt Baier, we’re glad Amber continues to have her life together!
