Amy Duggar is embracing her new normal as a first-time mom and wants fans to do the same! The Counting On star who welcomed her son Daxton Ryan King on October 9. In celebration of being 1-week post partum she shared a makeup-free video on October 16 encouraging her supporters to post photos of their “natural self” on social media.
Amy, 32, cradled Daxton in her arms while he was sleeping. The new mom was dressed in pajamas and had her hair in a messy ponytail. “My hair is made up of 90% dry shampoo right now,” she started off on her Instagram Story. “I’m a little sleep deprived. I’m lounging. Just resting and letting my body heal.”
She continued, “This is my new natural look and I think it’s ok for new moms or just anybody to just post and be their natural self without filters and without beauty apps and without editing.”
“I’ve obviously have edited photos, who doesn’t,” the Counting On star conceded. “But it’s ok to post pictures like this when it’s real life and you’re just soaking in the moment.”
The boutique owner ended her message, “Anyways, it’s ok to post when you’re not 100% looking 100%.”
This isn’t the first time Amy’s talked about being authentic on social media. In August she opened up about experiencing skin discoloration on her face during pregnancy. “I wanted to show you my face without highlighter or bronzer or anything like that,” she told fans. “My skin right here my forehead has definitely discolored since I’ve been pregnant.”
Amy added, “I thought about what kind of insecurity that is for me and how I want to cover it up with foundation and act like everything’s fine. But I’m not going to because other women have probably experienced the same thing on their skin and can relate to it. I think it’s really cool that we use Instagram in a way that helps one another and just says ‘Hey, I’m human too.’”
The Counting On star welcomed baby Daxton via C-section on her scheduled due date. She thanked fans for their support and prayers in another make-up free video on her Instagram. “He’s perfect and totally worth the pain, although C-sections are no joke. I’m resting a lot,” she said while holding her newborn.
