A lot of people thought it was insensitive, given that she was on her way to the US-Mexico border on Thursday to tour an immigrant children's shelter.
Families have been separated at the border due to Trump's "zero tolerance" policy. More than 2,300 children are currently in shelters, according to the New York Times.
While the president has since signed an executive order reversing the policy, many are still wondering how he plans to reunite the thousands of children with their families. Many critics found Melania's jacket to be offensive given the circumstances.
