The whole family is included, but all eyes are on the two newlywed couples: Jessa Duggar and her husband Ben Seewald and Jill Duggar and her husband Derick Dillard. Jill is even sporting a tiny baby bump under her white dress while Jessa and Ben smile cheek-to-cheek. So how does the Duggar family celebrate Christmas? “I think we do it a bit different in our family,” Michelle Duggar wrote in a blog last year. “Jim Bob and I really wanted to focus on the real meaning of Christmas. And so, we didn’t focus on Santa. We kept that idea out of the whole celebration, we explained to the children who Santa Claus was historically, but focused on his good deeds and his ministering to children…Our goal was to bring out the real meaning of Christmas. It was Christ’s day, the holy day of mass, Christ mass and what we’re celebrating is the day that Christ was born.”

“It’s an exciting time,” she added. “We decorate. It’s a big birthday party for Jesus. We make banners and put them all around the house and put out our nativity scene.”

“We are having wonderful family time serving together. As you are thinking about Christmas this year think about ways to do something for others as a family. A Christmas time mission trip is something we've come to love so much,” the family wrote on Facebook.

"It teaches them about giving to others,” Michelle wrote. “When they come back from those mission trips right before Christmas, I’ve often heard them say, ‘Mom, I just don’t even think I want to go Christmas shopping. I don’t want anything. I have no needs.’ I’ve been so grateful to hear how it’s impacted their lives.”

When they do gifting, the family pulls names out of a hat to see who gets to unwrap presents first, according to their blog.
As for dinner, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar host anywhere between 30 and 45 family members for Christmas dinner, and, of course, it is served buffet-style.
Their favorite Christmas treat? The Duggar “melt-in-your-mouth, Homemade Yeast Rolls.”
