Hoda Kotb is speaking candidly about one of her biggest regrets. While appearing on Watch What Happens Live on Wednesday, February 12, the 55-year-old explained that she is embarrassed about her “landing strip” comment that she made on live television back in March 2013.
Cohost Jenna Bush-Hager asked Hoda to name one thing she wishes she could take back throughout her time on the TODAY show.
“If I could take back the landing strip, I would take that back,” Hoda confessed in reference to her grooming habits. She continued, “We were talking about grooming, and you know how Kathie Lee is. She’s like, ‘Well, what do you have?’ And I go, ‘What do you mean?’ She goes, ‘What do you have?’ And I felt pressured. So, I blurted it out.”
Hoda explained that since revealing her grooming habits on live television that she’s felt “sick about it.”
Earlier this month, Hoda was in a celebratory mood when she and Jenna, 38, debuted the latest addition of their morning show — an additional hour called Hoda & Jenna & Friends. Hoda’s fiancé, Joel Schiffman, sat front row in the audience to offer support to his woman. “You know when there are big moments in your life? It’s your wedding, it’s your first job, it’s the kids are running around. Sometimes you need to take one second and just literally sit in the moment. You guys, thank you for coming, for traveling from all around.”
In addition to thanking the audience, Hoda addressed Joel, 61, directly. “When everybody is busy in life, they’re busy. Joel had a really, really, really super busy day at work and I didn’t even ask him to come. I didn’t bring it up, and I didn’t want him to feel bad and say he can’t come so I didn’t bring it up. And then, I sent him a text and said, ‘If you want to come any Thursday.’ And he said, ‘How about this Thursday? I’m so glad you asked,'” Hoda said.
