Joy-Anna Duggar’s Rebel Husband Admits To Breaking TWO Major Engagement Rules Amid Shotgun Wedding Rumors
Sept. 26 2017, Updated 3:39 p.m. ET
Austin Forsyth doesn’t seem to believe in upholding rules unless he’s setting them! On Monday night’s episode of Counting On, Joy-Anna Duggar’s then-fiancé laughed off his breaking of Duggar engagement rules, for the second time!
While out skeet shooting with the Duggar boys and Pastor Caldwell, Austin said, “Now that I’ve seen Mr. Jim Bob shoot, I’m going to make sure that I stay on his good side.” The producer then asked if he had ever done anything to get on Jim Bob’s bad side, to which Austin responded, “The only time that I can think of when I overstepped my bounds with my future father-in-law was probably staying up talking past curfew. Just letting time slip past you and being in a good conversation – it’s really easy to do,” he confessed.
That’s not all. Austin then said, through laughter, “and probably going over the three-second hug. That’s easy to do.”
As Duggar fans know, the family has strict courtship and engagement rules (no full hugs, no hand holding till after engagement, no kissing, chaperoned dates, and especially no pre-marital sex) that both Duggar girls and boys, as well as their partners, are expected to uphold. Austin has already admitted in the past he and Joy broke a courtship rule when they exchanged in a little more than the permitted partial hug after Joy accepted Austin’s marriage proposal.

“We’re humans and sometimes we don’t always abide perfectly by our rules,” Austin told Daphne Oz during last season’s after-show special. “We try. That was a real hard try.”
Austin’s admission to rule breaking comes amid rumors he and Joy had a shotgun wedding. Following the announcement of the couple’s pregnancy, fans called out Joy for having quite the “large baby-bump” for being only three months into her pregnancy.
As OK! readers’ know, Joy announced her pregnancy three months after she wed.
