One notable guest missing from Meghan Markle & Prince Harry’s wedding on Saturday was her father Thomas, who was unable to attend due to undergoing surgery related to a recent heart attack. The 73-year-old still shared some wonderful sentiments about his daughter's big day, saying in part “I wish I was there.”
After much back and forth regarding if he was able to go or not, Thomas finally confirmed on Tuesday that he was unable to attend the wedding regarding his health issues.
She released a statement regarding her father not being there (her mother Doria Ragland was in attendance) on Thursday, saying "Sadly my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health,” she wrote. “I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.”
His surgery was a success, and now he’s opening up about her big day, where he could not stop gushing about how lovely she looked. "My baby looks beautiful and she looks very happy,” he said.
