Miley Cyrus is wasting no time to share her side of the story following her highly publicized split from Liam Hemsworth. After a tweet storm and a new tattoo, the “Wrecking Ball” singer, 26, will be taking the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards on August 26 to perform her new single “Slide Away.”
According to Variety, Miley will perform the breakup song at the awards show live for the first time.
"Slide Away" was released on August 16, which featured lyrics focused on a darker side of the former couple’s downfall.
In the extremely personal tune, Miley mentions Liam's alleged partying habits with "whiskey and pills," and appears to address the Isn’t It Romantic actor, 29, directly, as she tells him to move on.

"Move on, we're not 17,” the melancholy song concluded. “I'm not who I used to be / You say that everything changed / You're right, we're grown now."
Miley and Liam announced their separation on August 10, and the Hunger Games star filed for divorce from the “Bangerz” songstress on August 21 citing the standard “irreconcilable differences.”
The Last Song actress previously stated on July 26 that she would not take the stage after she was snubbed from the nominations. However, in light of her new single, Miley will take the stage after all.
