Nick Gordon is adding to his defense team as he prepares to fight a civil lawsuit filed against him by the conservator of his girlfriend, Bobbi Kristina Brown, claiming that he stole money from her.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Gordon’s Atlanta, Georgia, attorney, Joe Habachy, “is preparing to bring in famous attorney Jose Baez.”
Baez is known for defending high-profile clients such as Casey Anthony, who was found not guilty of the murder of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Anthony.
Entertainment Tonight added that private investigator TJ Ward, who worked on the search for Natalee Holloway, has also been added to Gordon’s defense team.

In the lawsuit, filed by Bedelia Hargrove, Gordon is accused of intentional infliction of emotional distress, battery, assault and withdrawing funds from her bank account without permission. In total, the suit is asking for “punitive damages in the amount of at least $40,000,000, or a minimum of $10,000,000 for each one of four counts” that Gordon is facing.
Hargrove claims in the suit that Gordon stole money from Bobbi Kristina and put it in accounts he could only access, including an alleged $11,000 he took while Bobbi Kristina was in a coma. Gordon is also accused of controlling Bobbi Kristina’s social activities and beating her.
Gordon, who is currently living in Florida with his mother, Michelle Gordon, has remained silent about the lawsuit and the investigation into the January incident that left his girlfriend unresponsive in a bathtub in her Atlanta-area home. The case was being handled by Roswell Police, but the Fulton County District Attorney's Office confirmed on June 25 that it is taking over the investigation.
