After an awkward run-in at a Golden Globes after-party, exes Taylor Swift and Jake Gyllenhaal were left with bitter tastes in their mouths in their blast from the past moment. But the Constellations star is ready to make amends with the singer—and has already sent her a gift to jumpstart their reconciliation!
An insider told OKMagazine.com exclusively that Gyllenhaal is desperate to earn his “nice guy” stripes back because Swift is a Hollywood heavyweight that should not be messed with.
“Jake’s wanted to clear the air with Taylor for years now and knows a lot of things were left unsaid,” the source told OK! exclusively.
Swift and Gyllenhaal famously dated in 2011 but the actor broke up with her abruptly before the holidays, and naturally inspired some of her breakup music. But most recently, the former couple awkwardly ran into each other at the Chateau Marmont for Amy Poehler and Tina Fey’s after-party, bringing back past emotions.

“After the awkward scene at the Globes party, he sent her flowers and a note, telling her he’d really like to mend bridges and be friends,” the insider revealed.

Though their split was just over three years ago, Jake is trying to make up and have Taylor on his side just before he makes his major Hollywood comeback.
“He treated her badly and admits he deserves everything bad she’s said about him,” the source said, “but almost overnight Taylor’s become a major power player in Hollywood with the world at her feet. Jake doesn’t want to have her as an enemy when he’s in the throes of his big comeback.”
And while Taylor seems to be enjoying her single life in New York hanging with her gal pals and throwing star-studded parties in her TriBeCa loft, she may accept Jake’s peace token!
“She’ll probably go for it, but she may read too much into it,” the insider said. “He was her first love and she’ll never get over him, certainly not to the point she’d be happy with just a friendship.”
