From need-to-know deets on Clear Hair Care's new Intense Hydration Line to Khloe Kardashian's styling habits, check out these 8 helpful tips from Jen Atkin and incorporate them into your weekly beauty routine.

1. Space Out Your Haircuts

“I have always been a big advocate for scalp care and taking care of your hair and getting it to grow from the root,” says celebrity hairstylist Jen Atkin. And that pretty much explains why she’s a spokesperson for Clear Hair Care! And with proper care comes less haircuts—which really equals out to better hair days and more cash in your wallet, right? Jen says she asks her clients to up the time between their cuts to about 3 months or more.

2. Khloe Kardashian Has Hairstyling Smarts

So it’s more of a fact than a tip, but who doesn’t want to know more about the Kardashian gals’ sultry strands? While Jen admits that all the girls have a knack for doing their own hair, Khloe is really good!

3. Creating Your Own Texture Sprays Is as Simple as Sugar and Salt

“I’m really big at making things at home,” says Jen. If you want a beachy texture and don’t have a spray at home, Jen suggests combining salt and conditioner and gliding the mixture through your hair. If a larger-than-life ‘do is wanted, just mix up sugar water and spritz it in your hair before heat styling. “It’s an old trick from the 50s that I’m sure our grandmas all used to do."

4. It Takes About an Hour to Complete a Kardashian Wavy Style

“We have it down to a science now,” says Jen.

5. Complete At-Home Hair Treatments at Least Once a Week

“Your hair is very vulnerable, especially if you’re changing your hair color quite a bit. I think it’s best to do treatments at least once a week,” explains Jen. You can try Clear’s 3-5-minute Treatment Mask, or for a DIY method, our expert suggests mixing bananas and yogurt.

6. Work the Treatment Into Your Schedule

“If you’re going to spin class, throw your hair up in a sleek ponytail and put a treatment in. If you’re going to wash your hair after class anyways, you might as well sneak in a treatment," says Jen.

7. Hair Accessories Are Always Chic

Jen is a fan of hair accessories, no doubt. She reveals that she was SO into the trend when her client Khloe was hosting X Factor. Her go-to brands for a little hair bling? Lelet New York, Amanda Judge, Topshop, and H&M. Just remember to keep it simple! “I think if you’re going busy with clothes, don’t go crazy with hair accessories. That’s what ‘s going to make you look like Toddlers and Tiaras, which no one wants to do."

8. Know the Celebrity Hair Trendsetters

Right now, Jen says that Lily AldridgeRosie Huntington-Whitely, and Jessica Biel are her most requested looks.
