Vanessa Hudgens is no stranger to changing up her hairstyle. From short and drastically ombred to long, curly, and blonde with dark roots, the actress has taken a few risks—all of which end up looking perfect.

But her latest hair switch-up is bound to surprise you. Our girl Vanessa ditched the blonde highlights (for now, anyway) and is now officially a redhead.

The first clue that revealed her big change was an Instagram picture of Vanessa getting her hair washed at a salon with the caption, "I hit my head... Am I bleeding???" She was clearly referring to the red hair dye that was stained on the colorist's gloves, so don't you worry.

The next pic she posted was of her finished 'do. "Someone (ME) is very excited for Halloween. Meaning I had to dye my hair to match the season. Hallelujah for @ninezeroone and @riawnacapri @nikkilee901 for making this happen with @greatlengthsusa #VAMP," she said.

The secret behind the look? Vanessa traveled to the Nine Zero One Salon where stylists used a balayage technique to dye her hair using L’Oréal Professionnel INOA hair color.

"We purposely left her roots dark to encourage easier maintenance, then colored the ends with various shades of red to create a multi-dimensional hue that was intensely vibrant," says Nikki Lee, stylist and co-owner of Nine Zero One Salon.

Think she'll make her hair a key component of her costume on October 31st?
