What Will the Royal Baby's Name Be? Take These Polls and Place Your Bets!
Kate Middleton, I grow impatient. I am jumpy, I am anxious, and the first thing I do in the morning is check to see if you’ve birthed. I hope you know that!
While we wait (impatiently) for the arrival of Baby Cambridge, let us ponder once again the very fun subject of potential names. The gamblers over the pond have already started places their bets—you can do that, or you can just impress your friends with all this very key trivia.
The most surefire guess? Alexandra. It’s one of the queen’s middle names, as well as the name of William’s godmother. It’s strong, traditional, and also just pretty.
Also pretty? Charlotte. It’s a very popular name in the UK, and happens to be Pippa Middleton’s middle name. There is some historical precedent, as King George III’s wife was Charlotte.
Elizabeth is pretty expected (read: snoozy), but it’s the baby’s grandmother’s name and Kate’s own middle name so it will probably be thrown in there somewhere.
And of course, it’s hard to ignore Diana. It’s not a traditionally royal name at all, but it would be the sentimental choice.
As for boys’ names, the lead choice for a boy is George. While that name may feel a bit stodgy over here in the US, it’s very popular for babies in the UK and has plenty of historical currency.
James is also a very popular name for English kings.
Philip is the name of William’s grandfather and would be an interesting pick.
Charles would be a nice nod to the baby’s grandfather.
