After her ex-husband Kevin Federline came out swinging to defend her against a lawsuit claiming she abused her kids, Britney Spears has broken her silence on the matter with a statement posted on her official Web site.

A former bodyguard, Fernando Flores, is claiming that the pop star beat her kids with a belt and sexually harassed him, to which the Britster now responds:

“This lawsuit is another unfortunate situation where someone is trying to take advantage of the Spears family and make a name for himself.  The Department of Children and Family Services conducted a proper investigation surrounding Mr. Flores’ accusations and have closed the case without any further action. Ms. Spears and her attorneys have every expectation that this matter will be dismissed by the courts.”

It was reported earlier by TMZ that Kevin, through his lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan, was calling Flores’ claims “baseless.”
