While no criminal evidence was found in the sudden death of Brittany Murphy and officials have stated the actress appears to have died of natural causes, the investigation into the starlet’s passing at 32 is still far from over. The autopsy is currently underway and the L.A.P.D. is keeping their investigation open and now focusing on a possible overdose, Radar Online reports.
“We are keeping the investigation open until the toxicology reports are available in five to six weeks,” a senior LAPD source involved in the investigation told Radar Online. “We are focusing on possible overdose scenarios including looking at prescription medicines.”
At approximately 8:00 a.m. Sunday morning, emergency services were called to the L.A. home of the 8 Mile actress and her husband Simon Monjack after she went into an apparent cardiac arrest. Despite multiple attempts, Brittany could not be revived and was pronounced dead on arrival to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
This morning the ladies of The View spoke about Brittany’s untimely and tragic death.
“I did Girl Interrupted with her,” Whoopi Goldberg reminisced of her one-time co-star. “She was a really great girl, a great actress and fun, really silly. I know her parents are just experiencing the worst thing parents can experience right now and I just wanted to put my two cents in.”
Barbara Walters commented on drugs found in her home, leading to reports of an overdose.
“The coroner said there were a lot of prescription pills in her system and found in her house.”
