YouTuber Bethany Mota turned lifestyle guru has a new DIY for you to try—and it’s the sweetest (smelling) thing. Bethany Mota has influenced your bedroom decor, what you’re planning on wearing tomorrow, and now, she’s taking over your vanity with a signature fragrance for Aeropostale. The bubbly personality, who made it big on YouTube with her cheery videos (that all get waaaay more than a million clicks), made an appearance at the Aeropostale in New York City’s Time Square for a meet and greet with her fans and to talk to us about her new scent, decorating, and the “hilarious” celeb she needs in her next video.

OK!: Why did you decide to launch a fragrance?
Bethany Mota: I decided to launch a fragrance because Aeropostale approached me about creating one, and it’s something that I kind of always wanted to do but didn’t think it would actually happen. So when I heard I had the opportunity to create my own perfume, I got super excited.

OK!: So what does it smell like?
BM: When I first started creating it, I knew that I wanted it to be very sweet. Whenever I go for a perfume, it has to be a sweet, girly scent. It has a lot of vanilla notes in it and really sweet bakery scents. I also wanted it to have another side, so it also has muskier notes to it that are a little more edgy. It’s a mixture of girly and a little edge.

OK!: What was one of your favorite fragrances growing up?
BM: I actually started using this in the 5th grade and I still use it to this day. It’s Pink Sugar by Aquolina. It’s a really, really sweet scent but it has a spicy tone to it. I’ve used it for so long.

OK!: Outside of fragrances, what’s the food smell that will get you up in the morning?
BM:
Probably pancakes or coffee.

OK!: So you’ve tackled so much. What’s one thing that you haven’t done yet that you want to?
BM:
I’d love to do makeup. I think it would be really cool to have my own nail polish line, so that’s something that I’d like to do in the future.

OK!: If you could pick a celebrity to be in a video with you in a project, who would it be?
BM:
Katy Perry.

OK!: Why Katy Perry?
BM:
I love her style. She’s so inspiring to me, and she’s also so hilarious. I know the video would be super funny.

OK!: You launched a home decor collection, and it’s amazing. Do you have a favorite TV home or apartment?
BM:
There’s actually this movie that I watched a long time ago, it’s called The Clique. The main girl in the movie had this amazing room. It was all white with pink accents, and I got inspiration from that movie for my own room. I actually get a lot of inspiration from TV and movies.

OK!: Do you have any tips for decorating small spaces?
BM: There are so many ways to decorate small spaces. One of my favorite things is throw pillows. They can add so much color to your room. You can have the same bedding for years and just switch out the throw pillows, and it looks like you have a completely new bed.

OK!: Do you have any pointers for women trying to create their channel on YouTube and brand it?
BM:
YouTube can sometimes be really discouraging. When I first started doing it, I almost stopped doing it. Don’t feel so much pressure to fit in with what everyone else is doing. I always felt like I had to do what this one person is doing or I have to do this for people to watch my videos. And eventually, I realized I could do whatever I wanted. As long as you’re having fun with it, that’s all that matters. People really respected that.
