OK! or OMG?!: Read Our Review of Rachel McAdams' About Time
Fact: there are SO many movies that just came out this weekend. Last Vegas, Free Birds, Ender's Game (which you can read a review of HERE), and About Time. But is About Time, which seems from the surface like a silly romantic movie like the rest of Rachel McAdams' films, worth your time (see what I did there?) during such a busy box office weekend? One word: Yes. More words: Below in our OK! or OMG?! movie review:

Before I saw the movie, I kind of felt like it was going to be The Time Traveler's Wife all over again. Rachel McAdams was in that too, if you remember correctly. This one sort of has the same vibe, but it's about a a guy who finds out on his 21st birthday that he can go into a dark place, clench his fists, and it'll take him back to any moment that he's lived. He can redo the moment, change it, fix it, improve it, whatever. That guy is Domhnall Gleeson, aka Bill Weasley from Harry Potter, and he's an adorable cute British ginger who you'll somehow find yourself attracted to throughout the whole film.
Once Tim gets this news, he sets out from his small hometown in England to the city of London where he gets a job and tries to find a girlfriend. You'll see quickly that he finds her, Rachel McAdams, who plays plain jane Mary. He sort of manipulates how he meets her since he has the ability to change certain moments of his life, and it's cool to see how he does that and how these two finally meet and fall in love. That's not a spoiler alert, BTW. They show their wedding in the trailer so I promise I'm not revealing too much.

But of course, as with many films of this nature, there's another girl in the picture. Her name is Margot Robbie and she plays Charlotte, a girl from Tim's young adult years, who he meets again years later when he's with Mary. She's not a major part of the movie whatsoever but I wanted to mention her because she's gorgeous and like a blonde, busty Emma Stone and I'm obsessed with her.
Family is another major part of this film. Tim has a really close relationship with his dad (who was the one who told him about the hiding in the closet, clenching your fists and going back in time thing in the first place), and Tim's purple-wearing, slightly eccentric sister, Kit Kat, plays a big part in the climax of the film. I like that the movie is about finding someone to be with but also about family. It's sweet and not something you see everyday in romantic films.

Another important thing to note? The film, from beginning to end, takes place over the course of a few years. They never tell you specifically how long it's been, but you can tell because Tim and Mary's kids get older and also because in the first few scenes they play songs including this one from 2003:

But all in all, while clearly unrealistic because nobody can go back to the past and manipulate how one's life pans out, this movie is really sweet. It's got heart and romance and sex and all that, but also family lessons. Oh, and comedy! It's not intentionally funny but I really enjoyed some of the funny lines. And Uncle D is one of the best characters in the film. Once you see it you'll know why.
OK! or OMG?!: You know what, this is OMG for sure. There's nothing bad about this movie aside from being a tad too long. It takes place in the picturesque UK, it's a love story that doesn't make you hate your own love life, and it also makes you think about your own personal life and which moments you'd want to relive and possibly change if you could. And I'm all for a movie that makes you think.
