Saturday Night Live star Will Forte has resigned himself to losing his co-star Amy Poehler by season's end next year. The funnywoman is expecting her first child this fall with husband Will Arnett and is then moving on to The Office spinoff, set for a post-Super Bowl debut.

“I’m heartbroken to lose Amy, but she couldn’t be leaving SNL for a better reason, which is motherhood and a great show,” Will tells OK!  “Greg Daniels and Mike Schur, who are creating the Office spinoff show, are both SNL vets as well.”

SNL head honcho Lorne Michaels is slightly more optimistic though about retaining the comedienne, who became the first female SNL star to nab a Supporting Actress Emmy nomination last week.

"You never know if she'll come back," Lorne tells OK!. "It's always day-to-day in our world."

One thing's for sure though -- pregnancy won't slow the 36-year-old down, especially since she anchors Weekend Update, where her belly can be easily concealed behind a desk.

“I don’t think a few extra pounds are going to make Amy any less funny,” Will says. “And she’s good at generating material. We know, at the very least, we’ll have her at the desk, and then whatever more she can do for us will be great."

Maternity leave for the actress hasn't been set in stone yet, but Amy can already look forward to some traditional SNL baby gifts.

"We give them a baby bowl," Lorne says. "It has the name on it. And other things. A house, decorate it, send the kid to school."
