Screen Actors Guild Award Nominees Announced: Surprises & Snubs!
Dec. 16 2010, Published 8:00 a.m. ET
This morning, Rosario Dawson and Angie Harmon announced the nominations for the 17th Annual SAG Awards. And while some stars will be all smiles today with the good news, others might wonder why they got the cold shoulder.
The King's Speech and The Fighter, which were both nominated for Golden Globes earlier this week, each got four nominations. Natalie Portman and Annette Bening are again facing off for the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role category for their work in Black Swan and The Kids Are All Right, respectively.
But not every nomination followed The Globes — there were some surprises. The Coen Bros. film True Grit didn’t earn a single Golden Globe nomination even after it made the top 10 films of the year list by AFI, but SAG showed some awards love for its leads Jeff Bridges and Hailee Steinfeld.
This summer's hit Inception didn't get any acting nominations, despite critical raves for its stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

In the television category, Modern Family's Ed O'Neill was nominated for the first time as an individual for his role on Modern Family. E! News came up with a longer list of TV snubs, including Glee's Lea Michele and Matthew Morrison, Community's Joel McHale, and the final season of Lost. Community, Friday Night Lights, and Parks and Recreation were all snubbed as well, in E!'s opinion.
