Things keep going from bad to worse for Adele.
First, she canceled her hotly anticipated Las Vegas performances the day before opening night, angering loyal fans who spent thousands of dollars on tickets.
Then came whispers that the singer’s “nightmare” behavior had led to the collapse of her three-month residency at Caesars Palace, including her insistence on replacing a state-of-the-art sound and video system that had been good enough for the likes of Madonna, Mariah Carey and Céline Dion.
But an insider tells OK! the real culprit behind the fiasco wasn’t Adele’s diva demands but her relationship with her sports agent beau of six months, Rich Paul.
In the weeks leading up to her shocking announcement, Adele, 33, “got extremely needy and kept begging Rich to come to Vegas, and when he couldn’t, things got loud and confrontational,” spills the insider. “She’d be saying things like, ‘I need you here, why aren’t you here?’ and would go from fiery to teary in a heartbeat.”

Once the songstress realized her rumored fiancé, 40, wouldn’t be there to hold her hand, things fell apart, the insider adds. “Adele went straight to Rich’s home in Beverly Hills and has been holed up there ever since, crying and raging,” spills the insider. “He’s doing everything he can for her, but she’s pressing for more than he can give.”
That includes helping Adele dig herself out of her residency crisis. While Rich is reportedly trying to renegotiate the singer’s Sin City contract amid his own demanding schedule, “there’s growing concern she will not return to the stage,” the insider confides.
“If that ends up being the case, it could cost the resort $150 million, and it doesn’t bode well for her career or her relationship with Rich,” continues the insider, noting that Adele’s inner circle is worried that her return to the spotlight was rushed. “People around her believe the end is nigh, and when it’s over, she’ll board the first plane to England and not look back.”
