Anthony Anderson Turns Donald Trump’s Fuller Hair Into a 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' Monologue Mystery

Donald Trump went to Las Vegas to talk politics, but Anthony Anderson found the real headline sitting on top of his head.

Guest-hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! while Kimmel is on summer break, Anderson zeroed in on Trump’s noticeably fuller-looking hair during an August 5 appearance at Red Rock Casino. The president’s changed look had already set off online speculation, with viewers debating whether it was lighting, styling or something else entirely.

Anderson had his own theory.

“That clip caused some controversy,” Anderson said after playing footage of Trump. “Not because of what was coming out of Trump’s mouth, but what was on top of his head.”

The Black-ish star noted that White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt answered questions about the president’s hair by saying, “Lighting is everything.”

“And she’s right,” Anderson replied. “For instance, when you shine a light on the Epstein files, her boss’s name magically disappears.”

Then he dismissed the lighting explanation.

“I looked it up, and this is real. Trump’s new hairdo looks exactly like the $15 Trump wig you can buy on Amazon: Donald Trump wig for adults and kids, one size fits most.’”

The show displayed an Amazon listing for a Trump-style wig that resembled the president’s Las Vegas hair.

“I have to say this, though,” Anderson added. “Kids, if you show up to my door in that wig on Halloween, you ain’t getting s--t.”

“Appearance-based political stories go viral because they are the easiest possible entry point into a bigger narrative: you don't need to follow policy to have an opinion on a hairstyle,” said Amore Philip, founder of Apples and Oranges Public Relations.

Trump’s hair has long been part of his public image, but the Las Vegas look stood out because it appeared fuller and fluffier than usual before seemingly returning to a more familiar shape days later.

“Audiences read these changes as signals of something deeper, control, vanity, aging, or spin, so a cosmetic detail becomes a Rorschach test for how people already feel about the person,” Philip explained.

“That is both the danger and the opportunity,” she continued. “A hair moment can crowd out the message of the day, and once the internet assigns meaning to it, no press statement pulls it back. Virality rewards the image, not the correction.”
