'I Never Knew Love Like This Before': Bindi Irwin Gushes Over Baby Girl Grace
Bindi Irwin has spent her life marveling at all types of wildlife, but her new daughter is the most captivating creature she’s seen yet.
The new mom, 22, gave birth to Grace Warrior Irwin Powell on March 25, and she has been loving every second with her new baby girl ever since.
“When we first got her home, it’s as if she’s always been with us,” Irwin said. “It’s a really strange feeling when you can’t remember what your life was like before this beautiful little person. I never knew love like this before.”
Irwin, along with her husband, Chandler Powell, welcomed their new daughter exactly one year after they tied the knot. Irwin posted an Instagram on March 25 to celebrate both the one-year anniversary of her marriage as well as the birth of her baby girl.
“She chose the perfect day to be born and we feel tremendously blessed,” she wrote in her post.
The Crikey! It’s the Irwins star, and her husband have been taking shifts at night caring for Grace, and Powell said that his wife is a natural when it comes to motherhood.

“I was so amazed by Bindi. She gave birth, and within hours she was changing diapers and feeding Grace. Just right into it, wasted no time” Powell said. “That was incredible to watch.”
The baby’s name, Grace, is tied to Irwin’s great grandmother along with relatives from Powell’s family. Her middle names, Warrior Irwin, are a tribute to Irwin’s late father, beloved Wildlife Warrior Steve Irwin.
During her pregnancy, Irwin spoke about wishing her Crocodile Hunter father could be there to meet her daughter.
“He would have been a good, good grandpa,” she said about her father, who passed away when she was only eight. “I don’t think we would’ve seen our daughter. He would’ve whisked her away to the zoo and it would’ve been perfect.”
The new parents, who live and work at the Australia Zoo, shared that Grace is already an outdoorsy baby.
“She’s been a busy girl,” Irwin told PEOPLE. “She loves adventures, and she’s such a happy inquisitive little person. We can already tell: she’s definitely an Irwin.”
