Cheryl Burke Reveals She Tested Positive For COVID-19 Ahead Of Second 'DWTS' Performance With Cody Rigsby: 'I Can't Believe This Happened'
Cheryl Burke has tested positive for COVID-19 — and she will have to hang up her dancing shoes until she recovers.
The Dancing with the Stars pro took to Instagram to tearfully tell her followers that her PCR test came back positive, despite getting both Moderna vaccine shots.
“I am positive, which means I have COVID,” she said in the video on Sunday, September 27, just one day before she was supposed to perform on stage with her partner Cody Rigsby.
“I feel so bad for Cody. I feel like I’m letting him down,” she said through sniffles in the clip. “I just feel like sh*t to be quite honest, and it’s so overwhelming because it’s Sunday and the show’s tomorrow.”
The 37-year-old claimed that she was waiting all day for her results, after she went to get a test early in the morning when she wasn’t feeling so hot that day.
“I figured I should let you guys know since I’ve been as open and as real and vulnerable as I could be here,” she continued. “I just hope I didn’t spread it….for those of you who don’t think COVID is a real thing, it’s f**king real, dude.”
She also shared that she will be hanging out in her bed for the duration after she was directed to stay home and quarantine for 10 days.

“I can't believe this happened,” she concluded.
It is unclear how Burke’s positive results will affect Rigsby’s spot on the show, as the pair were expected to perform their salsa routine on the upcoming episode.
Some of Burke’s friends took to the comment section to encourage her not to worry about the show, and instead to focus on her health. Jana Kramer wrote, “Aw babe. U did everything u could. Get better.”
Kaitlyn Bristowe also commented, “Cheryl I’m so sorry. I wish I could help in anyway.”
As OK! previously reported, Burke has been open about her nerves for the show’s new season amid her sobriety journey.
"I’m Nervous for DWTS … Confession time — this may be my 24th time doing #dwts, and even though I’m SO excited, I also have major nerves," she said on Instagram on Monday, September 20.
“Doing this show sober has really made me realize my every insecurity and the amount of pressure I put on myself, which is tough,” she said.
She continued in the clip, “Just wanted to be honest with you all because I know sometimes it can look like this stuff is easy for us, but that wouldn’t be real. That being said, I love my partner and love all of you so it’s going to be a great night. Thanks for always supporting and get those voting fingers ready for tonight!"
