Danica Patrick Says 'There's Nothing Like Heartbreak To Really Throw You In The Deep End' After Aaron Rodgers Split
While Aaron Rodgers is happily engaged to Shailene Woodley, his ex-girlfriend Danica Patrick admitted that their breakup was difficult.
"I think we learn the most about ourselves through relationships, but there's nothing like heartbreak to really throw you in the deep end of that," the 39-year-old said on Monday, April 12, on National Geographic's Running Wild with Bear Grylls.
"But I've learned a lot and as broken open as I was on the sad end, I have felt so much joy in so many more instances and so many more unlikely places than I ever have, so it's like my heart got broken open to both ends of the spectrum," she reflected on the split.
"[My dad is] always super proud of me," Patrick explained. "My mom too. My sister. I'm really fortunate that I have a family that's super supportive. You gotta have someone you can fall apart with, you know?"
Patrick and Rodgers dated for two years before their split was confirmed in July 2020. In February, the news of Woodley and Rodgers' relationship broke only days before the Green Bay Packers quarterback announced that he's engaged.
The race car driver was also candid with Tamron Hall about relationships. "You know what you don't want so you know what you do, and so maybe it's not necessarily that they have their work cut out for them, but that they're going to be an extremely high-quality person with a lot of boxes to check," she said on The Tamron Hall Show. "It's not as though there are boxes to check, it's just that I know what I want now and I'm not willing to compromise, bend as much, right?"

However, Patrick did some soul searching in Egypt earlier this year. "Your relationships are mirrors," Patrick said of her "inner temple" after the trip.
"We can’t receive what we don’t believe. (I made that up right now but I am sure I’m not the first.)," she added. "I could go on and on! So stop looking for a religious structure or person or home or a job or a city or a partner to make you feel better. Simply because it won’t work! I have tried!"
Meanwhile, Rodgers and Woodley seem as strong as ever after they went on a romantic Disney World trip earlier this month.
"This guy right here is super sexy, super attractive ... just shaved his neck this morning. Has a little man bun growing. This guy is hosting Jeopardy! tonight!" Woodley gushed ahead of the 37-year-old's stint guest-hosting Jeopardy!.
