'His Diagnosis Is Heartbreaking': Dustin Diamond's 'Saved By The Bell' Costars Are Devastated By Shocking Confirmation Of Cancer
Despite some past turmoil, Dustin Diamond's Saved by the Bell costars are showing their support for the actor, 44, after it was revealed he was diagnosed with cancer.
"I connected with Dustin earlier this evening and although the news of his diagnosis is heartbreaking, we remain positive that he’ll overcome this," Mario Lopez shared on Instagram, posting two photos of them together. "Praying for him & his family and for a speedy recovery. God Bless."
Lopez also commented on another Instagram post about the sad news, writing, "God Bless & Prayers Up!"
Fellow costar Tiffani Theissen acknowledged Diamond's health battle by posting a photo of him on her Instagram story with the caption, "Thinking of you Dustin."

On January 12, it was revealed that Diamond, who played the quirky character of Samuel "Screech" Powers on the hit sitcom, was hospitalized and undergoing tests. According to one report, Diamond had feared a cancer diagnosis, as his mother died from breast cancer. He had also found a lump in his throat.

Shortly after his admittance to the hospital, his team announced the scary news.
"At this time we can confirm that Dustin does have cancer. Dustin will disclose more information once it is available and a plan moving forward is made," his team stated via his Facebook page. "We ask everyone to respect Dustin's privacy during this difficult time. All positivity and prayers are appreciated."
TMZ was the first to claim Diamond has stage 4 cancer, adding that he's also started chemotherapy treatments. The outlet also reported he's experiencing pain from shingles.

Diamond has a troubling past. Although he rose to fame on the '90s show and its two spinoffs, things went downhill in his personal life: he released a sex tape, has been arrested twice and has spent three months in jail.
Unlike the majority of the original cast, Diamond did not return for Peacock's revival of the show, which premiered in November 2020.
