This news comes days before his first album in two years is set to drop. The father-of-1's album Equal is currently scheduled for an October 29 release, which means the singer's plate had undoubtedly been full of promotional work and appearances.
The name keeps in the theme of his previous titles which include Plus (+), Multiply (x) and Divide (÷) and will include the tracks "The Joker And The Queen", "Collide", and "Love In Slow Motion".
Sheeran was also slated to appear as a "music mentor" on The Voice — though it is unknown if the appearance was entirely pre-taped — and was set to perform as the musical guest on the November 6 taping of Saturday Night Live.
An insider spilled to Page Six, "Ed is offering to perform live via video link, but this isn’t something ‘SNL’ does," then added, "The show likes to have the performer in studio."
It is presently unclear if his SNL performance will be postponed or canceled.
