In the wake of Emma Roberts’ recent split from baby daddy Garrett Hedlund, a source says the actress has a special someone in her corner — her aunt, Julia Roberts.
Since Emma, 31, called it quits with Garrett after nearly three years together, “Julia’s been her rock and is providing a loving shoulder to cry on,” shares the source.
The Pretty Woman star “is disappointed in Garrett, there’s no mistaking that,” adds the source, especially since the Tron: Legacy actor, 37, was arrested for public intoxication last month. (He’s also being sued for negligence over a car crash that took place the night of his 2020 DUI arrest.)
“This split has actually been a long time coming,” explains the source, who says Emma's trying to keep things amicable for the sake of the couple’s 13-month-old son, Rhodes.
But Julia, 54, “thinks Garrett’s incapable of getting his act together and that he has no business being with her niece,” continues the source.“He’s put Emma through hell, and Julia’s reminding her that someone better will come along.”
"Julia’s been through plenty of her own heartbreak and promises Emma that there's a light at the end of the tunnel," shares a source.
As OK! exclusively reported, the couples's relationship had been "rocky" for a while prior to their decision to split noting that the birth of their little boy took a toll on their romance.
“When people ask why Garrett isn’t there, she says she enjoys time out with her friends and needs a break from home life,” an insider revealed. A source close to the Nancy Drew actress added that although Emma tried her best, “her relationship with Garrett is rocky, to say the least."
“They’re committed to being good parents, so everyone hopes they’ll be able to get back on the same page," another insider dished prior to their break up.
