FBI Confirms An Unidentified Body Was Located Near Brian Laundrie’s Notebook, Backpack

The FBI has confirmed during a press briefing that there was a body discovered near what might be Brian Laundrie's personal belongings at the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park inside the Carlton Reserve in Florida.

On Wednesday, October 20, federal agents held a press conference where they revealed human remains had been found but they had not yet made the proper identification of the body.

Earlier today, personal items including a backpack and a notebook were reportedly found close by the unidentified body. Authorities also explained that due to heavy rain and flooding, the remains had been submerged under water.

But a source told CBS News that although a body was discovered, it was only a "a small part" of the body which may make the identification process take longer than expected.

As OK! previously reported, the search for Gabby Petito's former boyfriend has ramped up with cadaver dogs being called in to help assist the FBI & North Port Police Department in the ongoing search.

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office confirmed that the FBI and the local North Port police department requested that the animal that is equipped to search for human remains. "We have sent the HRD K9s a few times and patrol K9s (who are also trained to track those who are missing) a few times," the spokesperson for the Sheriff’s office told WFLA.

"For more insight, we’re one of the only law enforcement agencies in Florida that have HRD K9s in house, so we’re often requested to assist in that aspect across the state," the representative went on to detail.

Even before Gabby Petito's remains were found in in Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming the nationwide hunt as been on for Laundrie, who she was last seen with on a cross country camping trip. Laundrie was last heard from by his family on September 13, after telling them that he was going for a hike.
