Fox News Viewers Turn on Jesse Watters After He Claims the Amish Don't Exist: 'Stupid' and 'Not Funny'

Fox News host Jesse Watters was flamed for making bizarre on-air remarks claiming he does not believe the Amish actually exist.

During a segment on the network's talk show The Five, Watters was asked about something he believed as a child that he was embarrassed to admit he had believed for too long. Watters answered: "I believed in the Amish... and then I realized they didn't exist.”

When his co-hosts reacted with confusion, Watters doubled down, stating: “No, no. It’s like, when you are in Philly growing up, you think, like, Amish, these are real people that don’t believe in electricity and live out in the middle of the state. Then I realized it’s just not true. There’s no such thing as the Amish!”

Co-host Greg Gutfeld jumped to Watters’ defense, saying, “You know what’s great about this is you’re not going to get a letter or a complaint from the Amish on this. You picked the one group that will not be writing in; this will never reach them. Very smart, Jesse; I don’t care what anybody says.”

Despite the lack of an official Amish response, secular viewers and critics on platforms like X quickly slammed Watters, labeling him "stupid," "not funny" and a "special kind of dumb.”

Many users pointed out the irony of Watters growing up in Pennsylvania — a state famous for housing one of the largest and most historic Amish populations in the world — and still believing the community is fictional.

PS @JesseBWatters the Amish absolutely exist! Saying otherwise is both stupid & not funny!” blasted one critic on X.

"Jesse, I live in Kansas, and yes we have Amish out in the country, and yes they still drive horse and buggy and no electricity,” explained another.

“@JesseBWatters, what are you on today? And yes, the Amish are real. We have Amish in So. MD. Love to see their buggies on the roads,” noted another miffed viewer.

“Why did Jesse Watters just say there is no such thing as Amish? Even the others on The Five seemed confused,” wondered another.

Before his comments about the Amish, Watters faced numerous waves of severe backlash and viewer outrage on The Five and Jesse Watters Primetime for a string of controversial on-air remarks.

Viewers threatened a boycott of Fox News after Watters used the highly controversial phrase "the Jewish question" during a discussion about Israel and Lebanon. Co-host Jessica Tarlov immediately corrected him on-air, telling him to say "Israel" instead of "Jews.”

Viewers also called for Watters to be fired after he launched into a tirade regarding "highly educated, downwardly mobile" women who support progressive candidates.

He claimed that a college degree negatively affects a woman's romantic prospects and that men do not care about a woman's educational level.
