Heroic Wisconsin Mother Tragically Dies Protecting Her Child From Savage Dog Attack
Wisconsin mother Heather Pingel has tragically died following a brutal dog attack that left her fighting for her life.
Officers arrived to her home in Bowler, Wisc. on December 8, only to find Pingel bloody and horrifically injured.
According to the police report, the incident occurred after Pingel's 4-year-old son fell down the stairs. Though the reason as to why is unclear, the family's pit bull then aggressively bit the boy in the leg. When the concerned mother rushed to his rescue, the dog attacked her, leaving her so terribly injured she later had to have both of her arms amputated.
The mother-of-two was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, and died days later on Thursday, December 16, following amputations and kidney failure.
Pingel's fiancé, who first discovered her following the attack, took the dog outside — suffering bite injuries throughout the process — and shot it.
The incident report stated the dog had a history of being beaten by a previous owner and was known to be aggressive.

Pingel's sister, Shannon, launched a GoFundMe to help the family with paying the mounting medical bills and funeral costs in their time of need. She also gave an update on her nephew, writing: "He is doing good alot of stitches but nothing to [sic] serious," adding her sister is "nothing but a hero" for what she did.
"I’m going to miss how wonderful she was as a mother," Shannon later said in a statement. "She did anything and everything for her two kids. She was a stay at home who loved her job. And her kids adore her. I’m going to miss calling her and asking when she was going to be here... because she was always running late. I’m just going to miss everything about her."
Her cousin, Jennifer Person, also heaped praise on the heroic mom. "She was just a wonderful person. So kind and loving. She was always there to help people whenever she could. Her kids were everything to her. She loved them so fiercely, as she demonstrated by giving her life so her son would survive."
Pingel's GoFundMe has currently reached $17,000 out of their $50,000 goal.
