'A Point of No Return': John Stamos Hints Rebecca Romijn Betrayed Him Toward the End of Their Marriage
John Stamos is detailing the events that led up to the end of his and Rebecca Romijn's marriage.
In his tell-all memoir, If You Would Have Told Me, the Full House actor, 60, hinted that an act of betrayal by the X-Men star, 50, was the catalyst to the demise of their longtime romance.
"As I'm lifting Rebecca up, I'm losing myself," Stamos wrote about his dynamic with Romijn, whom he wed in September 1998. "She makes it clear that I'm the TV guy and she's the newly minted star. … Somewhere deep inside, I start to believe it."
While the former Glee actor admitted the two went through many "ups and downs" in their relationship, he continued to hope the blonde beauty would want to live a more settled life.
"But through all that, there's zero talk about having kids and starting a family," he admitted.
"This was always our plan. Our dream. It feels as though she doesn't share that dream with me anymore," Stamos explained, adding that Romijn was too "busy with her career and new friends" to understand that her then-husband was "slipping away."
"We're trying new things and growing, but not together," the Born To Ride actor recalled, adding that it became "harder to make time for each other, slow down, disconnect from the chaos of the world, and make eye contact again."

"She smiles at me a little less, doesn't look me in the eyes over dinner, takes phone calls in the other room. … Betrayal starts as a sinking feeling in your stomach, grows into a suspicion that clouds your every thought, and by the time you find out the truth, it's uniquely horrible at first but also expected, like you've been waiting for something bad to happen," said Stamos, who separated from Romijn in March 2003 before announcing their split to the public a year later.
"There's nothing more to say. There's a point of no return, and what felt like a phase is now her phasing me out for good," he revealed.

"In the darkest hour, the schmuck who proposed, the clown who'd do anything to make her laugh, and the husband planning for the future all sit up torturing me with 'what-ifs,'" Stamos heartbreakingly wrote about making the "right call" to end his union with the Ugly Betty star. "The guy who promised her and himself 'forever,' just like in the Beach Boys song, now sees that forever might not last the night."
Luckily, Stamos got another shot at love when he married Caitlin McHugh in February 2018, and in April of that year, they welcomed son Billy.
