Though the campus is just a short drive from her family home, the transition has been complicated by her mother's cancer diagnosis, which she announced just weeks before her daughter's high school graduation.
"I wanted to share a personal health update. I’ve recently been diagnosed with b----- cancer. While this isn’t news anyone expects, I’m working closely with my medical team on a treatment plan,” the New York native, 48, wrote in a post shared via Instagram on May 20.
The mom-of-five revealed she underwent a procedure related to her diagnosis earlier that week.
"I am staying focused and hopeful while surrounded by the support of my family, my kids, and those closest to me," she continued. "Thank you for your kindness and support, it truly means more than I can express. I kindly ask for privacy as I focus on my health and recovery."
