Kate Beckinsale Slams Ariana Grande Critics After Singer Announces Break Amid 'Insane Amount of Bullying': 'Hope You Feel Good About Your Life'

Kate Beckinsale defended Ariana Grande after the singer announced a break from public life following The Eternal Sunshine Tour.

The actress posted photos of herself doing yoga with her dog and a fluffy pink cat on her back, while wearing massive black platform boots in an August 5 social media post.

Her Instagram upload prompted followers to comment on her body, with one of them comparing her high ponytail, white pajama set and thin stature to Grande.

"Is that Ariana Grande?" they wrote, triggering the Underworld actress to sound off on social media's treatment of the Wicked star.

"Ariana Grande has decided to hide for an indefinite period due to the insane amount of online bullying she gets mainly from sad f------ women," Beckinsale typed.

Grande has received criticism online for appearing increasingly thin while failing to speak out on concerns about her health and well-being. Many have accused the "Positions" singer of having an eating disorder and refusing to disclose it to young fans who may look up to her.

"Think about that an artist as talented as that with the voice of a f------ angel and you all have bullied her into going into hiding, well done, hope you feel good about your f------ life," the 53-year-old added in her comment.

Grande addressed her break at her August 3 concert in Chicago, speaking to the crowd in a four-minute speech.

"It's been blown out of proportion, and I just wanted to speak to my fans directly tonight because I love you so much," she explained. "It means a lot to you. And it means a lot to me...I'd like to just clear the air."

"The announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or an impulsive thing," the 33-year-old continued. "It is something that I had decided to plan quietly a long time ago, and it's a decision that came from a thoughtful and empowered place."

She dismissed claims that genuine concern from fans was causing "negativity" that was ruining her tour experience, instead clarifying that she simply needed to set boundaries.

"Multiple things can be true at the same time. Boundaries can need to be set," the singer went on. "Human beings can need a break sometimes."

Grande also exited the West End revival of Sunday in the Park With George, which she was expected to star in across from Jonathan Bailey next summer.

While the break means she will no longer be part of the production, Grande reportedly remains supportive of the project and its creative team.

The show's production team released a statement on X in support of Grande following the announcement.

"Following this evening’s announcement from Ariana Grande’s team, we can confirm that she has decided to step back from Sunday in the Park with George," it read. "We know this cannot have been an easy decision, and she makes it with our complete understanding and support."

This isn't the first time Beckinsale has drawn comparisons to Grande.

The English actress and the pop star both dated Pete Davidson, and Beckinsale's thin stature has previously been compared to Grande's. In January, she hit back at commenters who juxtaposed their physical appearances in a negative light, Buzzfeed reported.

After Beckinsale's mother passed away, someone on one of her social media posts told her she was starting to resemble the "Dangerous Woman" musician.

"It must be immensely inconvenient that me losing basically my entire family except my daughter and watching some not-all-peaceful deaths that have destroyed my soul is aesthetically displeasing for you and that has made me not very hungry," she fired back. "I do apologize from the bottom of my skinny a-- heart."
