Katie Holmes Has 'Sworn Off Men' For The Time Being In Order 'To Concentrate On Her Career'

It’s been nearly half a year since Katie Holmes became single again, but don’t expect the actress to throw herself into another romance just yet.

The Dawson’s Creek alum, who called it quits with Emilio Vitolo Jr., 34, in May, “ended up choosing work over him. It wasn’t a surprise, really,” notes the pal, who says her eight-month fling with the NYC chef was a rebound to help her get over the demise of her longtime, on-off relationship with Jamie Foxx.

(For his part, Foxx — who recently released his book Act Like You Got Some Sense: And Other Things My Daughters Taught Me — recently told Extra, "I’m single… s-a-n-g-l-e.”)

Holmes, who recently wrapped up directing her second feature — which she also stars in — already has a third movie in the works. (In May, Deadline reported the Secret: Dare to Dream actress had filmed the untitled romance in Connecticut.)

“She is really excited about doing more directing,” says the pal. And when she’s not working, the star prefers spending her time with her daughter Suri —who she shares with ex-husband Tom Cruise — “or just curled up with a good book,” the friend adds. “But she is a romantic at heart, so it’s not like she’s going to stay single forever!”

As OK! previously reported, the First Daughter star is also considering ditching the Big Apple and heading back to Los Angeles for a fresh start — and, as an insider said, "so she can really get her directing career going."
