Matt Lauer & Girlfriend Shamin Abas Spotted At Same Hamptons Event As His Ex-Wife Annette Roque
It seems that Matt Lauer and his ex-wife, Annette Roque, may have avoided an awkward run-in after they were spotted at the same Hamptons event over the weekend.
The 63-year-old and girlfriend Shamin Abas were photographed on Sunday, August 29, at a country-set event. Meanwhile, the disgraced Today show anchors' ex was only a few feet away, Page Six reported.
The outlet noted that the estranged couple was not photographed together at any point during the event.
Lauer and Abas both donned matching blue fleece sweaters. He wore a baseball cap and blue shoes. The 52-year-old wore demin jeans and white flats.
The couple was seen sitting together on a wooden bench and chatting.
Roque had paired a striped sweater with khaki pants at the event. The mother of Lauer's three children was reportedly busy taking care of her dog and talking to others at the event.
The Hamptons outing comes after an OK! insider spilled that he is still being snubbed by his old Hamptons crowd following his sexual harassment scandal. The source said that Lauer "has done everything he can to regain his place in the community."
"He'll turn up at fancy events and be super friendly with everyone," the source explained, "but most people just turn their noses up at him."
Lauer and Abas reportedly got together in December 2019. "Matt and Shamin have known each other for many years; she spends a lot of time in the Hamptons, as does he," an insider previously told Page Six. "They very recently began dating. She is a lovely woman."
The former anchor "has been talking to friends about marrying her [Abas] in a big Hamptons wedding. But it's hard to imagine there'd be much of a turnout," the OK! insider revealed. "People have had ample time to put out the welcome mat, but it seems like they've shut their doors on Matt for good!"
Lauer and Roque tied the knot in 1998. The two split in 2017 after he was axed from Today on the heels of an NBC employee accusing him of sexually harassing her during the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Several other women also made allegations of sexual harassment against Lauer.
Lauer and Roque's divorce was finalized in June 2019. She was reportedly awarded up to $20 million in assets and the former flame's horse farm in Water Mill, Southampton, according to Page Six.
