An anonymous law enforcement insider admitted that there are currently no suspects or "names on the table" in the investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Today show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie.
Speaking to NewsNation senior national correspondent Brian Entin on Thursday, April 2, the insider said investigators have not zeroed in on any specific individuals in Nancy’s baffling disappearance.
“The people I’ve talked to who are still in the know on this investigation tell me that there’s no direct suspect right now. No name on the table,” they said.

Nancy Guthrie has been missing since February 1.
When pressed on whether the lack of a clear suspect is shocking at this late stage in the investigation, the insider weighed in on the current situation.
“Not with how the investigation has gone so far. I mean, you have individuals who are either lucky as h--- or more cunning than many people have seen before. If you take the first, extremely lucky, maybe his luck will run out, but so far it hasn’t,” he explained. “But if you take the second one, that he was extremely cunning, there’s a chance that he may have covered his tracks so well that we may not find out what happened.”
The source corroborated true crime podcaster Ashleigh Banfield’s reporting that the lead detective assigned to the case by the Pima County Sheriff’s team initially lacked homicide experience.

The supervisor in charge had reportedly never led a homicide case before this appointment.
Specifically, the supervisor in charge had reportedly never led a homicide case before this appointment.
“From what I understand, the people who were there on the scene were not tenured homicide detectives. They didn’t have a lot of experience in homicide at that point to include the supervisor who, from my understanding, never investigated a homicide before being installed as the supervisor of the homicide unit,” they said.
The insider alleged that investigators initially "rushed to judgment," assuming Nancy had wandered off rather than being abducted, which may have hindered early evidence collection.

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos is facing a community recall over his handling of the case.
The insider had some advice for embattled Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos, who is facing a community recall over his handling of the case.
“I would say that he ruined a great department. It’s savable if he steps aside, and I would ask him — step aside,” the insider said.

A combined reward of $1.1 million is being offered.
Despite surveillance footage showing a masked individual at the home around the time of her disappearance on February 1, and a blood trail found on the porch, authorities have yet to identify that person.
A combined reward of $1.1 million is being offered — $1 million from the family and $100,000 from the FBI — for information leading to her recovery.
