Ladd and Caleb were reportedly driving Himmat Fire Trucks and trying to fight a nearly 1000-acre brush fire on their property with the 57-year-old driving northbound and Caleb driving southbound. The trucks struck one another "head-on," due to "high winds on a gravel road" leading to decreased visibility.

"Ladd was transferred to Tulsa and had surgery to stabilize one of the fractures. Thanks to some rods and other hardware (and an amazing neurosurgeon named Dr. Kalani), it’s fixed now and that danger is over. He will have to wear a neck brace for several weeks to let the other fracture heal," Ree later explained in a blog post on The Pioneer Woman

The 52-year-old has not publicly commented on her nephew's reported DUI.
