A public apology to King Charles could be the next step in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's reported effort to heal their fractured relationship with the royal family.
"This isn't about Harry and Meghan admitting they were wrong about everything," a source told Rob Shuter's Naughty But Nice Substack. "It's about acknowledging that the past five years have caused enormous pain. The debate now is over what an apology should say — and, just as importantly, what it shouldn't."
Serious Discussions Surrounding a Public 'Apology' Are Happening Behind the Scenes, Claims Source

Multiple sources claimed Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have drafted several versions of a public apology.
Multiple sources told Shuter that "serious discussions" are underway regarding whether the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who left their royal duties in 2020, should issue a public apology to Charles, 77, in an effort to "rebuild trust" after years of public damage.
"The challenge is finding language that gives the King the respect he wants without forcing Harry and Meghan to walk back every interview, documentary, or page of Spare," a separate source said.
The apology would allegedly focus on regret over the high-profile breakdown of the family rather than revisiting specific allegations.
Prince Harry Initially Proposed 'Half in, Half Out' Role in Royal Family

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the royal family in 2020.
The Suits actress, 45, and the Spare author, 41, famously stepped back from their duties as working members of the royal family and moved to the United States in 2020.
In January of that year, the late Queen Elizabeth rejected Harry's proposal for a "half in, half out " role within the monarchy during the Sandringham Summit and ruled the couple could not be working royals while also pursuing independent, income-generating ventures.
