Is Britney Spears' happily ever after on hold?
An insider tells OK! the 40-year-old pop icon and her fiancé, Sam Asghari, have hit a major rough patch because the aspiring actor, 27, is tired of dealing with Britney’s endless cycle of conflicts.
“Sam thought the drama would diminish after her conservatorship ended and they could enjoy their lives quietly,” the insider confides. Instead, the “Toxic” singer — who’s been publicly calling out her family on social media — “traded one public battle for another.”
Her latest target: sister Jamie Lynn Spears, who Britney slammed for stooping “to a new level of low” ahead of the release of the Zoey 101 alum’s memoir, Things I Should Have Said. (In the book, Jamie Lynn, 30, claimed her sister exhibited “erratic, paranoid and spiraling” behavior and once locked her in a room with a knife.)
“To Sam, it’s beginning to look as though Britney thrives on the drama,” says the insider. “He’s worried it’s just going to drag on and on.”

With Britney seemingly consumed with getting revenge, the insider says Sam — who snagged a role in the upcoming thriller Hot Seat alongside Mel Gibson — has been throwing himself into his acting career.
“He’s focusing on that to stay clearheaded,” says the insider. “But when he’s MIA, Britney gets nervous and clingy.”
“Sam wishes Britney could devote more time and attention to their romance now that her conservatorship is over,” says an insider.
Those closest to Sam — who, the insider admits, is “afraid to rock the boat” — worry he’s just going through the motions to appease Britney. But if he doesn’t speak up soon, there’s little chance the couple will make it to the altar.
If Sam doesn’t start communicating his needs, the wedding could be in danger,” warns the insider. “There are two people in this relationship — and he should be able to express himself freely.”
Sam proposed to to the Princess of Pop in September 2021, two months before her controversial conservatorship was terminated.
