When The Shade Room reported that the couple had broken up after 7 years, Nelly corrected them, commenting on the Instagram post, "Well actually just 5 years ended 2019 haven’t been together for the past 2…!!! 🙏🏽 ok now y’all know..!! #FACTS."
The 46-year-old rapper and the brunette beauty were first linked in 2014. The pair have remained friends since their split, with Nelly going as far as to call Jackson “the one” during an interview with ET in October 2020.
"She's great. She's really dope. We have a great time, and we understand each other," he gushed about his ex at the time. "I would not want my life to not have Shantel in it… She's sweet, beautiful, and the more we got to know each other, she's just as beautiful inside."
The former lovers' relationship could play out in the upcoming revival of Real Husbands of Hollywood. Deadline reported that the comedy series, starring Nelly, Kevin Hart, Boris Kodjoe, Nick Cannon, Robin Thicke and more has been picked up for a limited run at BET Plus.
The series follows the daily lives of Hart and other celebrities, each playing a sensationalized version of themselves as they navigate their chaotic lives in Hollywood.
