Shawn Mendes Throws Shade At Taylor Swift's Boyfriend Joe Alwyn, Says Actor Has 'A Villain Look'
Shawn Mendes could be in trouble with Taylor Swift!
The 23-year-old took a lie detector test for Vanity Fair and made an interesting remark about Swift's boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
Mendes was asked if he still keeps in contact with the "Lover" singer after he toured with her in 2015. He said he texted her a month ago. "I always am asking her for advice on music," he explained.
The "Stitches" singer was also asked if he "approves" of Alwyn. "I've never personally met Joe, but he looks like a sweet guy," Mendes said. However, his statement was flagged as a lie.
"I'm lying a little bit?" Mendes said. "Yeah, I mean, he's kind of got a little bit of a villain look about him. He looks like a nice guy but, like, he at any movement could turn into a villain, you know?"
"He's got really blue eyes and I struggle with eyes that blue, you know? Like I find it easier to trust brown eyes," Mendes explained.

Alwyn isn't the only celeb the "There's Nothing Holding Me Back" crooner shaded during the lie detector test. When asked if he was "nicer" than Harry Styles, Mendes said has never met the "Watermelon Sugar" singer: "I think I could be a bit nicer than him."
In the same interview, Mendes admitted to being nervous about meeting "Monster" collaborator Justin Bieber. "I think that when I get nervous my face twitches, but apparently it doesn't, but I'm pretty sure I had some face twitching going on," Mendes recalled. "[I] definitely [said] some weird stuff about how much I love his song 'Smile.'"
Mendes attended the 2018 Met Gala with Bieber's now-wife, Hailey Bieber, but said that the event wasn't brought up when he met the "Baby" singer.
Mendes admitted during the test that he was "pretty bad at lying" but that he had lied to girlfriend Camila Cabello in the past. He also said that he had been friend zoned by the Fifth Harmony alum more than once before they got together.
