Simon Helberg said he can't 'imagine' playing Howard Wolowitz again.

The 45-year-old, who portrayed the character throughout The Big Bang Theorys 12-season run, explained that his perspective has changed significantly in the past seven years since the show came to an end in 2019, making it difficult for him to envision stepping into Howard’s shoes again.

“It really is. Like, I just don’t know. I feel like I’ve changed a lot and everything has shifted in some way. So, it’s hard for me to imagine even what that would be,” he said.

Simon Helberg said he has changed too much to play Howard Wolowitz again.

However, he acknowledged that he won't be opposed to filming a reunion episode with the cast, similar to how the surviving stars of Everybody Loves Raymond did in 2025 for the show's 30th anniversary special.

“Having a reunion, like, sitting down with everybody, I could see that being intriguing. Like, I mean, I don’t know,” he added.

“I don’t know when or how. But I’m sure, like, there would be a natural point where maybe everybody would be like, ‘This would be interesting.’ But I also feel like it has to, like, time has to go by,” he continued.

Simon Helberg found it 'funny' that it became trending to reboot classic sitcoms just when 'The Big Bang Theory' was ending.

The comedian also pointed out that, unlike earlier sitcoms, The Big Bang Theory's conclusion was far more recent. As a result, he found it amusing that many classic shows started having reboots or reunions just when The Big Bang Theory was ending.

“It’s just funny because we finished the show and then it became really like in vogue to have reunions and reboots, like the day we finished,” he joked.

“So, it’s like, well, we’re not going to reboot the show we just finished, and we’re not going to sit down on our set. They haven’t even taken it down yet,” he added.

Simon Helberg is open to having a reunion episode sometime in the future.

Per Entertainment Weekly, many TBBT stars like Mayim Bialik, Kaley Cuoco, Brian Thomas Smith and Melissa Rauch played alternate-universe versions of their characters from the popular sitcom in the spinoff HBO Max series Stuart Fails to Save the Universe.

Helberg’s character, though, hasn't made an appearance yet. After what he said about playing Howard again, it will be interesting to see if he eventually does reprise his role in the spinoff show.
