Spencer Pratt Shares Supportive Message Deeming Him A 'Victim' In 'The Hills' After Wife Heidi Montag Slammed Lauren Conrad For Treating Her Like A 'Dog'
Spencer Pratt may have been deemed the villain on The Hills back in the early 2000's, but it seems at least one viewer has a new perspective after watching it a second time around.
Pratt shared a direct message from a fan who praised him and wife Heidi Montag after watching the six-season series all over again. Alongside the screenshot of the kind message — posted on Instagram on Wednesday, August 11 — the reality star added a series of pink heart emojis.
The fan told Pratt they "have a COMPLETELY diff take" on the show from when they watched when they were younger. "You're actually the victim in it not the Villain," they pointed out while adding a shocked emoji.
The fan acknowledged the 37-year-old was "young and cocky" when they began filming in 2006, but didn't realize how badly he and Montag "were brushed off for just falling in love." The fan insisted everyone "needs to re-watch the full thing" before emphasizing again how shocked they were when they watched it with a new perspective years later.
"You've never been fake or pretended to be someone you're not," they wrote before saying they love the reality star couple in The Hills: New Beginnings. "Wishing your family all the very best!"
Pratt's appreciation post comes after Montag claimed how cruel costar Lauren Conrad was to the couple when they began dating while filming the MTV series. Conrad (who got Montag onto the reality show) was never a fan of Pratt, and allegedly gave Montag an ultimatum.

Conrad's insistence came after she accused the couple of fabricating rumors that she and ex-boyfriend Jason Wahler created an alleged sex tape. "When that whole Spencer thing happened, [Lauren's] like, 'If you date Spencer, you're off the show,'" Montag, 34, recalled of what the Laguna Beach alum, 35, allegedly told her.
OK! reported Montag wasn't thrilled with Conrad forcing her to choose between the two, with her pointing out that she's not Conrad's "dog."
While speaking about their relationship on the "Call Her Daddy" podcast, Montag told host Alexandra Cooper she appreciated Conrad's help in getting her into the showbiz world but said that didn't mean Conrad owned her and could "tell [her] what to do in [her] life," saying: "I don't appreciate that."
Montag's revelations about her former pal came days after her hubby also slammed a fellow costar.
Pratt recently went after Justin Bobby, claiming he had COVID-19 while filming season two of The Hills: New Beginnings. "He was trying to give it to everyone, like, hugging me," the TV personality told The Manual. "I should've known – he was dressed in snow clothes out of the blue and acting weird."
