Sydney Sweeney Gives Scooter Braun a 'Run for His Money' as Music Producer Tries to 'Assert His Dominance,' Body Language Expert Claims

Sydney Sweeney and Scooter Braun attended the Venice Film Festival together, though they may have brought unspoken baggage along with them.

The couple was spotted traipsing the city hand-in-hand and even cozying up for a gondola ride on Thursday, September 3, but body language expert Inbaal Honigman claimed the couple appeared to be "battling it out for dominance."

"The couple's body language in Venice indicates somewhat of a power struggle, where Scooter Braun currently has the upper hand, but Sydney Sweeney is a strong claimant to the crown," she revealed, speaking on behalf of Casino.ca.

The expert noted that Braun situated himself with a hand on Sweeney's knee as they rode in the gondola, which could be seen as him "asserting his dominance."

"He is, gently but surely, pinning his actress girlfriend down," she noted. "It means that he doesn't want to lose her, and that he's making sure she's at his side."

"Of course, his hand on her knee shows the romantic attraction which Scooter feels for Sydney, and how intimately close they are, but his fingers, seen tensing around her kneecap, lend a domineering air to the gesture," Honigman added.

As the couple strolled the streets, Honigman noticed the music producer's hand nearly covering all of Sweeney's, signaling "he is in charge."

"His hand is the literal upper hand," she explained.

However, that doesn't appear to mean that the Euphoria star is allowing Braun to take control in their relationship. She seemed determined not "to live in her man's shadow," the expert explained.

"When they're sitting in the gondola, Sydney expands her arm to the side," Honigman observed. "Similarly, when they walk side by side, she does the same thing — holding her handbag-wielding hand a little way away from her body."

"What she does with that move is to increase the perceived size of her frame, so that she's seen to take up more space," she continued.

Honigman likened Sweeney's actions to animals that fluff out their fur or feathers to appear bigger to their opponents, signaling "strength and power."

"This is Sydney's way of trying to make things a bit more equal between herself and her beau," she clarified. "Scooter enjoys being the one in charge, and finds it natural to be the dominant partner, but Sydney is giving him a run for his money."

The blonde beauty and Braun began dating in September 2025 after connecting at Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez's wedding in Italy.

They have since flaunted their budding romance at Knicks games, on social media, and all around Los Angeles, Calif. "There's a power struggle playing out between the lovebirds," Honigman concluded. "They're both being amiable about it; the conflict is clandestine, but they're quietly battling it out for dominance."
