BABIES'We Caught This Just In Time': 'Vanderpump Rules' Star Scheana Shay Reveals She Was Diagnosed With HELLP Syndrome Before Birth Of Daughter Summer
Scheana Shay is officially a mom!
The Vanderpump Rules star and her boyfriend, Brock Davies, welcomed a baby girl on Monday, April 26, in Los Angeles. The reality starlet announced her bundle of joy's arrival and the whimsical name she chose via Instagram.
"My heart is SO FULL. On the morning of 4/26/21 we welcomed to the world Summer Moon Honey Davies, weighing in at 6lbs 12 oz," she wrote alongside a close-up photo of the proud new parents cradling their daughter from the hospital bed.
The 35-year-old also revealed she encountered scary complications in her final moments of her pregnancy.
"Almost 24 hours after being induced, my blood pressure was extremely elevated. I was diagnosed with preeclampsia, which has now turned into HELLP syndrome," she explained. "My doctor said I was lucky, and we caught this just in time to treat as it’s very unusual to be caught so late, in postpartum."
"Until this morning I was on a magnesium drip that made me extremely lethargic and flu-like, shivering uncontrollably to the point where I felt like I was seizing," she continued. "Having not caught this condition in time, that would have been likely. I am still being monitored closely for elevated liver enzymes and low blood platelets and not sure how much longer we will be here."
She concluded by thanking the staff at Cedars-Sinai who treated her and said that the couple was "definitely feeling all the feels and just so excited to be Summer’s parents."
This is the first child for Shay, who tragically suffered a miscarriage back in May 2020. Davies has two other children — a son named Eli and a daughter named Winter — who reportedly live in Australia, from a previous relationship.
Summer's arrival is just the latest in the Vanderpump Rules baby boom. Three other cast members of the Bravo reality series have given birth within the last few months.
Brittany Cartwright and husband Jax Taylor welcomed a baby boy named Cruz Michael Cauchi on Monday, April 12, while Lala Kent celebrated the arrival of her daughter Ocean Kent Emmett on March 15 with fiancé Randall Emmett.
Stassi Schroeder, who was fired from the series last summer amid allegations of racism, also gave birth to a baby girl named Hartford Charlie Rose Clark with husband Beau Clark on Thursday, January 7.
