Scott Peterson reported his wife, Laci, missing in 2002 after she went on a walk with their dog on Christmas Eve. Four months later, police found her body in the San Francisco Bay, along with that of the couple’s unborn child.
Scott, now 49, was immediately suspected of being involved in his late wife's death, and those closest to Scott and Laci speculated he lied to authorities to cover up his involvement in her disappearance and ultimate death. Those people open up — many for the first time — in Scott Peterson: The Friends Speak, Sunday, December 9th on REELZ.
"The last time I saw Laci, when she came in for the prenatal class, was December 20th," recalls Laci's Yoga Instructor, Debbie Wolski. "We had a good session but the woman could barely walk. She was not in a position where she could walk comfortably — which is how come when I heard that she was 'walking the dog' when she disappeared, I called the police and said 'The woman couldn’t walk.'"
"There's no way she was out early Christmas morning on a foggy day in uneven terrain walking the dog without her cell phone," Wolski adds.
Police in Modesto, Calif., redoubled their efforts to solve the headline-making case, and all signs continued to point to Laci's husband.

"We gotta start moving quick on this," Modesto Police Detective Jon Buehler, who was involved in Scott’s arrest and questioning, recalls in the REELZ clip. "There was no weeping, there was no 'Oh my God.' He knew she was dead. He knew she was dead on the 24th."
Scott was convicted in 2004 of the first-degree murder of his wife and the second-degree murder of their unborn son, who was to be named Connor. He was sentenced to death in 2005, but his death penalty was overturned in August 2020, though the conviction was upheld. He was re-sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in 2021.
"There’s evil out there, there’s no question," adds the convicted murderer's college coach Hugh Gerhardt. "I mean that’s pure unadulterated evil."
